Bonxie V Gannet
This Great Skua just wouldn't leave this Gannet alone after it had dived. You don't realise quite how big a Bonxie is until it attacks a Gannet! Hardcore!
Arctic Skua
Been a while since my last close encounter with Arctic Skuas, I perhaps have to go as far back as 2012 when I visited Norway. A pair near Mossbank on mainland Shetland today were very obliging, sticking to look-outs before making raids on Arctic Terns. Typically fearless of humans.

Crossbills
Lots of talk of the Two-barred Crossbill invasion but the Common Crossbill invasion in Shetland is very impressive.

Blonde Squirrel
In Northern Europe where I have photographed them before, they look much greyer. In Scotland they look orange and their tails- they are so blonde!

Pine Marten
I have wanted to see Pine Marten's for a very long time so this weekend, on the way to Shetland, I booked Dad and me into the Speyside Wildlife Hide. What a great experience- we had two Pine Martens- a female and male, Wood Mice, Pipistrelle Bats, four Badgers and Red Deer from the hide. But the Pine Martens..... an animal I never thought I would ever see and we had such incredible views. The photos don't do them justice as were taken in the dark on ISO approx 1 million but believe if in the area, it is worth the late night!

Sharp-tailed Sandpiper In Australia
Rottnest Island off the coast of Perth, was great for waders, especially around the salt lakes and these Sharp-tailed Sandpipers were obliging by the road.
Blast from the Past- Nankeen Night Heron
I photographed this superb Nankeen Night Heron in Perth, WA back in November 2013, right at the beginning of the summer. Only just taking a look at photos taken then- hopefully more to follow!
