Black-throated Thrush Part 1

Famously, I once said, when a stunning male Black-throated Thrush was photographed in Wales, some time ago, that Black-throated Thrushes are glorified Fieldfares. I had forgotten that statement until David Roche reminded me the other day. But I stand by it. Infact, Fieldfares are better, plumage wise. Let's be honest though, there is always something special about a showy rare and the male currently wintering at Whipsnade Zoo is a right show off.

I spent a few hours this morning with this beaut, whilst Amy and Claire toured around the zoo. I checked back in during the afternoon but there was no sign of the bird or any birders. There is plenty of food though, so it will no doubt stay all winter. My 418th species in Britain.
